How to edit PDFs on your phone without installing an app
Merge, split, rotate and compress PDFs on your phone in the browser — no app install, no upload. Step-by-step for iPhone Safari and Android Chrome.

You do not need to install an app — or upload your files — to merge, split, rotate or compress a PDF on your phone. A modern mobile browser can do it on the device itself.
Quick answer
Open localdocu.org in Safari (iPhone/iPad) or Chrome (Android), tap the tool you need, select your PDFs from Files or Downloads, run it, and the result downloads to your phone. Nothing is uploaded.
On iPhone or iPad (Safari)
- Open localdocu.org and tap a tool such as Merge PDF.
- Tap Select files and choose PDFs from the Files app (iCloud Drive, On My iPhone or Downloads).
- Run the task, then tap the download to save it to Files.
- Optional: Share → Add to Home Screen to use it like an app, including offline.
If the in-page PDF preview looks blank on iOS, open the preview in a new tab — the file itself is fine.
On Android (Chrome)
- Open localdocu.org and choose a tool.
- Tap Select files and pick PDFs from Downloads, Drive or another folder.
- Run the task; the result is saved to Downloads.
- Optional: menu → Install app (or Add to Home screen) for offline use.
What you can do on a phone
- Merge PDFs and Word documents
- Split a PDF, extract or delete pages
- Rotate and reorder pages
- Compress PDFs (Balanced mode uses less memory on phones)
- Convert Word documents to PDF (smaller files work best)
Built-in alternatives
On iPhone, the Files app can combine files: select several PDFs, tap More (…) → Create PDF. Markup can rotate pages. Android has no built-in PDF merge, which is where a browser tool helps most.
Questions about PDFs on phones
Can I merge PDFs on iPhone for free?
Yes — with LocalDocu in Safari, or the Files app’s Create PDF action. Neither requires uploading the files.
Why did a large PDF fail on my phone?
Phones have less memory available to the browser than laptops. Try fewer or smaller files, use Balanced compression, or switch to a desktop browser for very large jobs.
Does it work without mobile data?
Yes, after the first visit. Add LocalDocu to your home screen and it opens and processes files offline.
